Safer At Home Update

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin continues to serve our community during the Coronavirus Safer At Home order. “Businesses that provide food, shelter and other necessities of life for animals, including animal shelters and adopting facilities are considered Essential Businesses”, under the Governor’s order. Therefore we will have staff available and on premise at our Arch Street facility from 8:00am -5:00pm seven days a week. Our staff members and the community are allowed to travel to take advantage of our services including adoptions, foster care, stray animal drop off, and surrenders.  YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT IN ORDER TO VISIT THE SHELTER, CALL 608-752-5622.

Adoptions

We are continuing to adopt animals at our Arch Street facility, however you must have an appointment in order to visit HSSW.  Please check our website at www.petsgohome.org to view any available animals.  Should you wish to visit and adopt a particular animal, we ask that you call 608-752-5622 and make an appointment with one of our Adoption Counselors. We have been very successful in finding animals homes, and are expecting the busy kitten season to begin in earnest very soon.  If you are interested in adopting a pet, please visit our website often

Strays

We continue to accept strays within our service area.  Should you come upon a stray animal please call us at 608-752-5622 and one of our staff can help you to determine if you need to call a non-emergency number for transport or of you might be able to bring the animal to us.  We appreciate you concern for the pets in our area, and it is our intention to return stray animals to their owners as quickly as possible.

Surrenders

If you feel the need to surrender your pet, we ask that you please call us at 608-752-5622 to discuss what issues you may be having prior to surrendering, we may be able to assist you and enable you to keep your pet.  If surrendering your pet is your only option, please call us at 608-752-5622 and make an appointment with our Intake staff to surrender.

Donations

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin continues to provide the services needed to ensure the health of our animals, but we are struggling financially.  If you are looking for a way to help, we are in great need of monetary donations.  Please consider a donation to HSSW, You can access our website at www.petsgohome.org  to donate, send a check or call us at 608-752-5622 with a Credit Card.  Your donations are always greatly appreciated and desperately need at this unprecedented time.
