This project started before I joined the organization, and I am honored and proud to see it pass the finish line. Rock County residents and municipalities will love our new facility and together we will help pets go home again!
The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin’s new building will be ‘right sized’ to allow the shelter to efficiently provide outstanding care for all pets and expand programs and services offered to the community. The total cost of this project is estimated to be approximately $4.325 million.

Where is the new property?

A generous estate donation allowed us to acquire a 44-acre parcel between Janesville and Beloit which offers us a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a 21st century campus that will serve our needs now and long into the future. The beautiful prairie setting is located halfway between Janesville and Beloit, on Prairie Street (County Highway G) just south of the Dollar General Distribution Center and about a mile north of Blackhawk Technical College, in the Town of Rock. This is an open, natural area that includes a wooded area, open meadows, and a stream – the perfect place for pets and any members of the community who want to take advantage of it.
