On Saturday, July 23rd from 1-4 PM, The Thinking K9 will offer a class and fundraiser for HSSW, designed to teach participants how to administer emergency CPR and first aid to an animal until veterinary care is ascertained.Skills and topics covered include:

  • safety skills when working with sick and/or injured animals
  • emergency triage and assess if an animal is experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency
  • restraining and properly transporting sick and/or injured animals
  • emergency first aid for dogs and cats en route to veterinary care
  • vital signs and determining normal versus abnormal readings
  • learn how to use materials in the pet first aid kit
  • provide first aid for many common medical emergencies such as severe wounds, poisoning, parents, choking and more
  • perform the most current industry-standard method of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on dogs and cats (participants will receive a PetCPR+ certification valid for 2 years)

Registration fee is $74.95 and includes:

  • an official certificate
  • a two-year subscription to the online Animal Emergency Resource Center
  • the 88-page full color class manual
