Adoption Guaranteed Logos
Adoption Guarantee Fund pets are highly-adoptable and therefore have a higher adoption fee. The extra fee enables us to continue our efforts to find homes for every one of our healthy, adoptable animals – even the ones that stay with us a bit longer than expected. When you see a pet with one of these logos on their photo, it means they have a slightly higher adoption fee.
Bonded Pair Logo
Bonded Pairs are pets that must go home together. They are pets that have lived a good chunk of their lives together (if not their whole lives together!) and do not feel comfortable without one another. So, when you see a pet with this logo on their photo, it means they come home with a buddy!
Cat-R-Walkin’ Home Logo
The Cat-R-Walkin’ Home Fund is dedicated to helping cats that may typically have a harder time getting adopted go home again. More specifically, when a pet has this logo on their photo, it means that either their adoption fee is waived, their post-adoption care is supported in some way, or both!
Declawed Logo
When you see a cat with this logo on their photo, it means that they are declawed.
Feline Right at Home Logo
Cats in our Feline Right at Home Program are cats that are getting a little extra enrichment and attention to help them feel more comfortable at the shelter. When you see a cat with this logo on their photo, know that these kitties may take a little longer to warm up to you at home, but they will certainly be worth it.
FeLV+ Logo
Cats with the logo on their photo are FeLV positive. This means that they have a condition called Feline Leukemia Virus. This condition effects their immune system and they may need some extra attention post-adoption to ensure they stay feeling their best. Additionally, their adoption fee is waived!
Foster Care Logo
When you see a pet with this logo on their photo, they are spending time in a foster home. This means that they are not on-site at HSSW and you must make an appointment to meet with them. You can do this by giving our Adoptions Team a call at 608-752-5622. We will then coordinate with the foster and you to find a time that works for everyone to meet at HSSW and meet the pet.
A Hero Paid My Adoption Fee Logo
When you see a pet with this logo on their photo, it means that a hero in the community has paid for their adoption fee!
Hospice Pet Logo
When you see a pet with this logo on their photo, it means that they are on hospice. In other words, they have some sort of terminal illness that is unable to be treated. They are often still very spunky and full of life though! And though their time with us may be a little shorter than we’d like, it will be absolutely filled with love.
Indoor/Outdoor Cat Logo
When you see a cat with this logo on their photo, it means that they would like to live their lives both a little indoors and a little outdoors. They like the safety of inside life, but also the adventure of outside life.
No Mother Left Behind Logo
At HSSW, we often have mama cats come in with their litters of kittens. When this happens, they go into foster care until they are all ready to be adopted. Once they are available for adoption, if you would like to adopt mom and one of her babies, you can do so for just mama cat’s adoption fee! So, if you see a cat with this logo on their photo, think about taking home her and one of her kittens too.
On Deck Logo
Our On Deck Program is for kittens that are at least six weeks old and healthy. These kittens are able to be met with and pre-selected for adoption, but unable to go home until they are at least eight weeks old. Also, they are in foster homes and not on-site at HSSW. So, if you see a cat with this logo on their photo and want to meet with them, give us a call at 608-752-5622 to set up a time that works for both you and their foster to meet at HSSW.
Petco Logo
When you see a cat with this logo on their photo, this means that they are located at the Petco Satellite Adoption Center in Rockford. This means that you must head to the Rockford Petco to meet with and adopt this kitty.
Pre-Selection Logo
When a pet has this logo on their photo, it means that they can be met with and placed on an ‘adoption hold’ by an interested adopter, but that they cannot go home and be officially adopted until after my Stray Period. (A Stray Period is a Wisconsin State Law mandated five-day period that a pet must stay with HSSW while we try to find their owner & their owner tries to find us.)
Pup-Cation Logo
When you see a dog with this logo on their photo, it means that they are on a pup-cation. A pup-cation is kind of like a vacation, but for pups! This means that they are in a short-term foster home (like for a weekend or so) and getting some much needed TLC out of their kennel. If you’d like to meet with any dog on a pup-cation, just give us a call at 608-752-5622 and we’ll coordinate that with you.
Vet Pets Logo
When a pet has this logo on their photo, it means that they are located at one of our Vet Pet partner vet clinics. Be sure to read their bio to see which one and then you can head to that clinic to meet with and adopt them.
Working Cats Logo
When you see a cat with this logo on their photo, they are independent cats who prefer to limit their interactions with humans. They cannot live as household companions, yet make excellent barn cats and thrive in that environment. If you’re looking for someone to help control the rodent population, this kitty might be the one for you!
Working Dogs Logo
When a dog has this logo on their photo, it means that they would love to live with a family that gives them a job to do and where they get to be outside A LOT. They typically haven’t spent a lot of time inside a house and may not really understand indoor living.
