Better Together Foster Program

Better Together Foster Program

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is not only committed to helping pets go home, but helping pets stay home. This means that we are focused on helping pets remain well-fed, comfortable, and healthy in their homes with their families. This program started as a partnership with Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit to help support survivors while they seek pet-friendly and safe housing. With the help of Petco Love and community donations, we are now able to support even more pets in our community and the people that love them. Whether that be financial assistance for pet needs, providing temporary pet housing or food, veterinary care, or anything in between, HSSW is here to help. Because as Jack Johnson said, “it’s always better when we’re together.”

How to Use This Program

If you are looking for support from our Better Together Program, we recommend that you first read our FAQs to make sure this program is a good fit for your situation. If you do believe it is a good fit, you may then fill out a Foster Request Form if you are looking for temporary foster placement for your pet. After your request form is filled out, we will review it and reply within 1-2 business days.

If your request is approved, we will talk through next steps. If your request is not approved, we will provide other resources that may be able to help you. If you have any questions not addressed in our FAQs related to temporary fostering, please contact our Foster Coordinator, Reghan, via email at rlinneman@petsgohome.org or via phone at 608-752-5622 ext. 114.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please seek support from Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit at 608-364-1083 or your local domestic violence survivors shelter.

How to Support This Program

This program is made possible entirely by grants and community donations. Simply put, it is for the community by the community. There are two main ways to support this program – Donating and Fostering. Donations of all sizes help to keep this program going and to keep our community supported.

Fosters for this program help those who have found themselves in impossible situations where they are trying to do their best to get out of them while staying united with their pet(s). This can prove very difficult. That’s where our fosters step in. Fosters for this program agree to take pets in while their families seek pet-friendly and safe housing up to 90 days.
