NOW ACCEPTING SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSIONS!

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin offers scholarship opportunities for both our Beginner’s Vet Camp and our Advanced Vet Camp thanks to grant funding through the Beloit Chamber of Commerce. Camp Unleashed Scholarship Program provides youth in our community who are in need of financial assistance with the opportunity to attend our summer camp.

Families can receive the scholarship application on our website, and they can be submitted by mail or email. We encourage young people of all diverse backgrounds to apply. Priority for these scholarships will be given to Beloit residents. Families must commit to providing transportation to and from camp.

The deadline for applications is April 1st.

What is included in my registration?

Camp registration fees include all materials, t-shirts, and some take home crafts as well! T-shirts will be handed out on the first day of camp and must be worn every day of camp for safety reasons.

What are camp hours?

Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The doors for drop off will open at 8:25am each morning. We do offer early drop off at 8am and late pick up at 4pm for an additional fee and while a staff member will be present in the room during this time period, activities will be self guided by the camper. You can book early drop off / late pick up at time of registration, or to arrange for care after registration, please contact our Community Outreach Coordinator, Faith at fstephens@petsgohome.org or by phone at 608-478-4658.

Who leads camp?

Each camp is led by an HSSW staff and assisted by volunteers. All staff and volunteers involved in camps have had a background check. HSSW staff members leading camp are certified in first aid and CPR.

Do campers get to meet animals during camp?

Yes!! In addition to animal themed art projects and games, each day will include time to interact with animals. We always have dogs and cats on site for interactions, but children may also meet ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs as well.  Our camp staff stress the importance of safety while interacting with any animal. If your child has allergies or is afraid of animals, please contact our Community Outreach Coordinator to discuss your concerns.

Will my child get to view live surgery?

Our Advanced Vet Camp does include the opportunity, with parent approval, to view a live surgery in HSSW’s Surgery Suite. HSSW will explain the process of a spay/neuter surgery and the importance of this procedure as well. Camper’s will also get the chance to help animals recover after their surgery. An alternative activity is planned for campers who do not have parent approval to view surgery or for campers who do not wish to view surgery that day.
