Spay & Neuter

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is happy to offer low-cost spay and neuter services to the community as well as other surgical services. Please keep in mind these services are by appointment only and we have limited available slots.

We release all appointment slots at 12pm on the third Monday of the current month for the following month. For example, we will release all May appointment slots on April 15th at 12pm. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for appointment opening announcements.

If you have made an appointment, but now need to cancel for any reason, please contact our Veterinary Assistant, Bella, at imagana@petsgohome.org or call shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 110. Email is preferred.

If you would like to help support our Spay and Neuter Program, please make a donation HERE. Donations towards this program will be used to help those in our community that find spay/neuter services outside of their budget receive those services here at HSSW.

How to Schedule An Appointment

*At 12pm on the 3rd Monday of each month, we open all appointment slots for the following month*

To schedule a routine spay or a neuter appointment, please click the 'Schedule' button below.
To schedule any other surgical services, please contact our Veterinary Assistant, Bella, at imagana@petsgohome.org or call shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 110. Email is preferred.
When scheduling your appointment online, if you do not see any open timeslots to schedule your appointment, we are fully booked.
If we are fully booked, please check back on the 3rd Monday of the month at 12pm and/or keep an eye on our Facebook page for appointment opening announcements.
When scheduling your appointment, you will be charged a $42.20 deposit ($40+tax) for cat spay/neuter or a $79.13 deposit ($75+tax) for a dog spay/neuter. This deposit will be deducted from your total at the time of checkout. This price includes tax and the deposit is non-refundable.

Schedule Your Appointment

What to Expect at Your Appointment

When you arrive for your appointment, cats MUST be in carriers and dogs MUST be on leash (NOT a retractable leash).
A surgical assistant will check your pet in and go over any paperwork and pertinent information with you.
At drop-off, you will also select a pick-up time with one of our surgical assistants.
After all check-in business is squared away, we will take your pet back to our surgery suite for their procedure. They will remain in our surgery suite for their procedure and recovery until your selected pick-up time.
If your dog is fearful at drop-off, we will ask that you stay at HSSW with your dog until 9am so that we are able to safely transfer them to the surgery suite with the help of our veterinarian and CVT.

Spay & Neuter

Cat Spay/Neuter - $85
Includes spay/neuter surgery, nail trim, ear cleaning, and long-acting pain medication.

Dog Spay/Neuter - $160
Includes spay/neuter surgery, nail trim, ear cleaning, and take-home pain medication.

*Depending on how the surgery progresses and your pet's anatomy, there may be an additional $32+tax Complex Surgery Fee*

Microchipping

In the words of Cesar Millan, you won’t ever regret microchipping your pet. But if your dog or cat gets lost, you will regret not doing it. Tags and collars can easily come off, leaving a pet without any identification. Microchipping is your pet’s permanent and safe way to carry its ID.

All dogs and cats adopted from the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin are microchipped. But anyone in the community can take advantage of our low-cost microchip services for the peace of mind knowing you’d be reunited with your pet should he or she bolt for a squirrel.

Low Cost Wellness Clinic

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is happy to offer low-cost vaccines and wellness services to the community every Monday and Thursday from 10am-5pm.

Please keep in mind these services are by appointment only and we have limited available slots. If you do not see any open timeslots to schedule your appointment, we are fully booked. Please keep checking back as new appointment slots are opened.

When scheduling your appointment, you will be charged a $33.76 deposit. This covers the cost of your exam fee and will be deducted from your total at the time of checkout. This price includes tax and the deposit is non-refundable.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment for any reason, please contact our Intake Supervisor Assistant, Hailey, at hbartlett@petsgohome.org or call shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 111. Email is preferred.

You may reschedule your appointment one time under the same deposit as long as you reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment. If you reschedule more than once or less than 24 hours before your appointment, your deposit will be forfeited.
